Oh, that's the wrong photo -- but alas, I didn't take a photo of HubbubPR advisor Shel Israel at lunch today. We met at Socialtext, walked by CXO Communication, and decided on Gordon Biersch, which, incidentally, is the first restaurant/bar I visited when I first moved to Silicon Valley in 1992. Shel is back from a long trip to the EU, where he added to an already impressive store of knowledge on the new social/political rules of the post-blogging world. It was great catching up with Shel. He's one of the best communicators in business today, a great "1:1," and, best of all (from my perspective), he's leaning toward causes that the entire industry ought to embrace. A lefty at heart, but with a healthy left brain, Shel, I predict, will write the next great book on our profession. And it may have nothing or little to do with social media. The forces that gave birth to blogging -- DIY, the fragmentation of society, globalization -- are far bigger than "the new PR." To quote another film, fasten your seatbelts. It's time we learn a little more about the world.
God, I just came here to link to you for the blog I'm writing about you, and I wasn't being half as nice to you as you have been to me in this post. The funny thing is I also talk about my lunch with Andres, which sort of goes with the photo you selected.

I'm not *that* nice. But I do try.
