As promised, last night (Dec. 1) we migrated the Hubbub Community -- a community for communicators -- onto a wiki, courtesy of client and partner Socialtext. This is phase-two of a three-phase process for creating our community. In the next few months, we will be using the wiki to enable the network to define what it wants. At the end of that process, we will launch a fully functional site -- including the wiki -- with some of the tools you have seen on other community sites, but specifically tailored for the communications professionals. If you are not already a member of the community, and would like to sign up, write to us at [email protected].
So, who can join the community? In short, the community is for anyone who works in the world of communications -- employers, marketing consultants, PR pros, social media mavens, writers, designers, videographers, software developers, many others. Our goal is to provide a friendly and functional environment for sharing job leads, market info, best practices. We've got bigger dreams -- for example, growing big enough to provide independents in the community with special services (like health care), and providing the community with the tools to organize itself to serve political, educational and social causes -- but will be acting on those dreams more slowly. For the core activities, it's time to get started, and the wiki will be our whiteboard. Join now and help us make it all happen.
